We have been very busy so far this year. We opened our Farm stand in May instead of mid-July, we are growing lots of new (and challenging) varieties of cut flowers, more orders, more events, more, more, more!
Tried a new variety of Sunflower this year - Vincent's Choice - its a Winner! Well definitely grow again in 2018.
The front bed by the road - a perennial bed in progress. We decided not to grow dahlias out here anymore as we tended to forget about them.
The raised annual beds in July 2017 - we used hoops and plastic to help everything get started in April & May.
Dahlia field in end of July 2017
Why does everything grow better in the compost pile?
Icelandic Poppies - "Champagne Bubbles". One of the new things we grew, that we just loved!
We added a golf cart to our team in July this year - it's VERY helpful for toting around buckets and vases of flowers.
Perennial bed with yarrow, delphinium and baby's breath.
Raised beds for annuals
First Success with lilies! This variety name is "Black Beard" - will definitely grow these again!
Trial bed of plume Celosia.
Apricot Stock from Floret Seeds. #growfloret
We added 23 rose bushes this year. This one is called "Anna's Promise" and is from the Downton Abbey collection of roses.
Trial bed of Italian Ranunculus. These were successful this year - although I have a plan to grow them even better next year - good thing, because I have over a thousand of them ordered for 2018.
Getting seeds started in early Spring.
From the 120 peonies we planted in Fall 2016 - this variety is called "Red Charm."
